Praised by Songlines Magazine for its «exceptional craftsmanship», Argentine-Norwegian tango band El Muro Tango has thrilled dancers and music lovers throughout Europe and Argentina since 2016. The group is known for its great energy, captivating melancholy and delicate subtleties, conveying the authentic Argentine tango with a fresh and modern harmonic language.
El Muro Tango released its debut album Nostálgico on Galileo Music in 2018 to great reviews in the international press. «Nostálgico is an album that convinces with its wonderfully elaborated arrangements, as well as its sound, committed to the tradition of the old masters, that is so rarely found in today’s tango bands», wrote AMM Magazin (DE). Nettavisen (NO) exclaimed, «It’s no wonder they have been superbly received everywhere – this sounds as strong and as real as one can only wish for.»
Following the band’s successful debut at a sold-out Royal Concertgebouw in 2019, they have been invited to major European tango and jazz festivals such as Innsbruck Tango Festival and Jazzkaar. El Muro Tango released their second studio album Manifiesto on Sony Music Argentina featuring the legendary Argentine singer Omar Mollo in February 2023.
Often referred to as the «Ozzy Osbourne of tango», Argentine Omar Mollo left behind a long career as a rock musician to become one of today’s foremost exponents of Argentine tango. «His forte is live, where he unleashes an interpretative vigor that underlines emotion to the borders of the theatrical», writes Argentine newspaper Página12. Omar Mollo's extensive discography has won him 7 Carlos Gardel Awards and 3 nominations for the Latin Grammy. The Konex Foundation has described him as «a versatile artist and a genuine ambassador of Argentine culture in the world», and twice named him one of the best tango singers of the decade. Currently based in the Netherlands, Omar performs regularly throughout Europe as well as in the main tango festivals in Argentina.
